November 2019 – New provisional visa is going to be introduced

Provisional Visa to be Applicable from November 2019

• Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa

This skilled worker visa is going to get replaced by a Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 489 visa. The validity period for this visa is around five years. This visa helps you get sponsorship from the Australian employer, family member, or government who are living there and have permanent residency. The main purpose of designing this visa is to provide applicants an opportunity to work and live in Australia for an unlimited time. The applicants are allowed to work and live in the regional area of Australia. The score point is the same and you need to clear the language proficiency test. The requirement of IELTS is a must to improve the point score and valid work experience.

• Subclass 494 – Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional visa

This visa is going to replace the Subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa. This visa is also valid for five years. This visa is beneficial for those who want to get sponsored by an employer in Australia at a regional area. The employer has to show that he is not able to fill the vacant position with Australian workers that is why you are getting sponsored by him/her. But, the requirement of fulfilling certain things like work experience, character, health, age, and skill assessment.

New permanent visa pathway to be introduced in November 2022:

• Subclass 191 – Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa

This visa is going to be announced on November 2022. This will allow the applicants to get PR who are under the skilled provisional visa 491 or 494. 

Changes in number

• The skilled total has been reduced to 108,682 from 111,099.
• The total number of family visa remains the same 47,732.
