It is one of the two Permanent residence visas which fall in the category of  General Skilled Migration Scheme of Australia. Following are the main features of the scheme-
  • State Nomination Is Required
For obtaining this kind of visa, you must secure a nomination from any state or territory in Australia.
  • Occupation
Your occupation must match the occupations mentioned in the list. You must have the requisite skills and experience. A skilled assessment report from an approved authority will be needed.
  • The EOI (Expression of Interest)
This needs no fees for submission.  If , however you don't receive ITA(invitation to apply) within 2 years of applying, the EOI will naturally expire.
  • Minimum Point Score
You must score a minimum of 60 points to be eligible for this visa. For the points ,you will need to show your expertise in various categories: Skilled employment, Australian study requirement, English language ability, Specialist education requirement, Qualifications,  and other sections.
  • Processing Time
According to DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), The visas generally get processed within 9 months. Most probably, the applications get processed within 13 months maximum. The processing time depends on various factors like the accuracy of the application, verified and proper documentation and timely response to any query by the immigration department.
  • First-time Applicants
If you are a first-time applicant,  then it is recommended that you apply through a trusted migration expert. It is beneficial if you go for a MARA registered expert. An application deposited through an experienced immigration specialist will stand fewer chances of denial or rejection.
