CDR · Accredited · Chartered · Fast Track

Engineers Australia assesses engineering occupations.

Engineering assessments are handled by Gurjeev Bhalla and Sourabh Aggarwal. Our Brisbane, Darwin, and Gold Coast offices serve engineers nationally. For migration purposes, Engineers Australia is the assessing authority for most engineering ANZSCO codes. Three pathways exist depending on your qualifications. Here is how each works and which fits. See our skill assessments overview.

The three pathways

CDR, Accredited, Chartered.

Each pathway reflects a different qualification background.

Competency Demonstration Report (CDR)

For engineers whose qualification is not directly recognised under the Washington, Sydney, or Dublin Accord. Narrative-driven assessment.

Accredited pathway

Qualification from a Washington, Sydney, or Dublin Accord accredited institution. Simpler process.

Chartered pathway

Engineers with Chartered Engineer status from recognised overseas body. Streamlined assessment.

Fast Track

Priority processing at additional fee. Available across pathways.

CDR in detail

The most common pathway.

Most overseas engineers use CDR. Requirements are specific.

Three Career EpisodesEach episode 1,000-2,500 words. Describes specific engineering projects with detailed engineering analysis.
Summary StatementCross-references the Career Episodes to Engineers Australia competency elements. Precise mapping required.
CPD recordContinuing Professional Development evidence. Courses, reading, conferences across defined categories.
Personal narrative requiredFirst-person narrative in each Career Episode. Outsourced or generic content detectable and causes refusal.
Timing and options

How long it takes.

Engineers Australia processing varies by pathway and fast track option.

Standard CDR

4-8 weeks after lodgement. Detailed reviews.

Accredited pathway

2-4 weeks typically. Simpler verification.

Fast Track

Approximately halves standard timeline. Additional fee.

CDR plagiarism checks are strict.

Engineers Australia runs CDRs through plagiarism detection. CDRs from internet templates, purchased CDRs, or heavily reused content trigger refusal and sometimes bans from future assessment. Write original narratives from your own experience.

Common questions

The questions we hear most.

For Engineers Australia assessments, book with Gurjeev Bhalla.

My degree is from an Accord country but not directly recognised. What now?
Check the specific institution. Some Accord-country institutions are not accredited. CDR pathway applies.
Can I submit CDR without Australian experience?
Yes. Overseas projects acceptable. Work experience need not be Australian.
How long are Engineers Australia assessments valid?
Generally 3 years for migration purposes. Plan visa lodgement within the window.
What if my assessment is refused?
Internal review available. Fresh application with strengthened evidence often possible. See fixing refused assessments.
CDR preparation and engineering migration planning

Engineers Australia: pathway matters.

Book a consultation. We identify the right pathway and prepare CDRs that succeed.
