Vaccination – All Inbound international travelers must give a declaration for the vaccination status before entering Australia. Any traveler needs to submit proof declaring that you are fully vaccinated.
Digital Passenger Declaration – The traveling arriving in Australia by air needs to complete digital passenger deceleration (DPD) unless they are flight crew. You need to start a DPD seven days before your flight to Australia, but the submission for the DPD can be done only 72 hours before your departure. The DPD requests details include your critical health information. The passengers who do not make this declaration before boarding the flight may be delayed when arriving in Australia.
Pre-Departure Testing – After 23 January 2022, there have been some changes in testing rules. Now, travelers have a responsibility to ensure that they meet the airline requirements by which they are traveling or the country they transit through. - A nucleic amplification (NAA) test includes a polymerase chain reaction (PCR or RT-PCR) test, loop-mediated isothermal amplification, and transcription-mediated amplification.
- A rapid antigen test (RAT) is also known as a lateral flow antigen detection test. This test is different from a lateral flow antibody detection test. For that purpose, you need to be ready with the pre-departure test which must be an antigen test.
- The required NAA test results should not be more than 3 days older than the scheduled departure date of your flight. Whereas the RAT test must be done not more than 24 hours before you scheduled departure time of your flight.
Accepted COVID – 19 Test Results- You can submit your Covid-19 test results electronically or paper-based. The results for the tests may have mandatory requirements which are:
- Name and date of birth of the traveler
- The test results concluding the negative or non-detected results
- The methods of the test conducted
- The make and brand of the test
- The date of specimen collection for the accepted COVID-19 test
- Providing details for the authorized person like the test was carried out by, under whose supervision and signed by the person.
- In absence of any such information, you will not be able to check-in or board the aircraft.
Extensions And Exemptions For Some Countries – In some countries, NAA testing is not easily accessible and the results take a couple of days to be returned. So, if you are coming from these countries, then the timeframe for testing can be 96 hours or for some places even more. You need to consider the RAT within24 hours before travel. Exemptions From Pre-Departure Testing – Below mentioned is the list of exemptions from the requirement to offer a pre-departure test:
- Children aged 4 years or below at the time of check-in for the scheduled flight departure
- A traveler who is having a medical condition and due to that if are not able to get the COVID-19 test, are required to provide the medical certificate in English language or possibly support with a certified translation. The certificate should include the name, date of the medical consultation along with other details of a medical practitioner. The certificate needs to include a clear reason why you can’t have a COVID-19 test
- The traveler of the aircraft on a relevant international flight along with emergency medical evacuation.
- The certificate carried by the passenger needs to be created within 30 days before the day of the international flight was scheduled.
- A person should accompany and support the patient due to the medical condition of the patient.
