How long can a person stay in Australia on a sponsored visa?

The stay will be determined by the type of visa. The TSS visa grants three types of stay options: short term stream, medium-term stream, and labor agreement stream.The short-term stream grants permission to the worker to stay in Australia for two years. The medium-term visa allows the employees to live in the country for up to four years. The Labour Agreement Stream grants permission to the employee to be sponsored under the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) or the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186). The length of the visa is decided on an individual basis.

Is there any option of permanent residence without a 457 visa or a TSS visa?

If you are eligible, you can be nominated for permanent residence by an Australian employer. This is done via the direct entry stream to the Employer Nomination Scheme, also known as 186 Visa. You could also use the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (187 visas) for the same purpose. The eligibility criteria for these categories of visa are that you should have 3 years of full time working experience after earning your qualification. You must have worked under a 2-year contract and must have been paid at the market salary rate designated for your occupation.
